I never believed that I would find this thread so interesting, but I do. Thank you all for your input. I never heard what our UK friends have to say about this subject. Leonard, can't you give me an estimate, you're at the lace guild now. I was also thinking that there was very little said about lacemakers in Eastern Europe and Italy. The French have also kept very quiet. As for the Japanese, there must be quite a lot because in every OIDFA congress I have attended, they showed up in a big group. Question is how good is their English in order to correspond with us. The ones I have met had very poor English.

Avital, do you have an estimate of how many subscribers there are to Arachne?

Bev you said :"My conservative guess is 500 lacemakers, call it 1000 for Miriam's census ;"
Thanks for adding a few more lacemakers extra for me.

I have to start with getting my lecture into some shape. There is so much to say about lace and I'm always carried away when I start with this subject. Can't make it too long because the ladies will lose their concentration and I have to leave early in order to take a few items of my lace to the local museum to the curator. We'll have an exhibition in March only for women artists , men are excluded this time.

Thank you all for your estimates,

Miriam
