and I was thinking the *dollar store* varieties might be worth trying.  The
*starch* would be more expensive than the lace!   If I do get a bowl of lace
made - I will keep notes on the medium used and how it behaves.  I don't
recall if Martha mentioned what she was using - as I was just 'flipping
channels to find the news' and there she was spreading her lace over bowls and
talking about what a nice way to show off our heirlooms.  (I cringed.)

reverse the new craft stiffeners, but know old starches do not soak completely
out of old laces.  The new commercial products seem to be quite thick, making

  Not knowing exactly what Martha Stewart is using as a craft stiffening
medium (contents), I would advise against for anything special, such as a few
doilies that are all you inherited from your dearest Grandmother.

  Mass produced doilies from the Orient are fair game for crafts.
