I have been asked for information about lace, in Wales. I think the lady, a friend of mine, is interested in taking classes around the area of South Wales. Could you please contact me about any Lace Association or lacemakers group in this area. Thank you very much. Carolina. Barcelona. Spain. ------------------------------------------------ Dear Carolina, Have not seen any responses. Part of a embroidery tour of Wales last May was a visit to St. Fagans National History Museum in Cardiff. Admission was free. It appeared the galleries have been refurbished recently. One large gallery contains 4 cases of lace, and embroideries, costumes, etc. The laces were of various kinds found throughout Europe. An unusual item is a beaded basket in a case where the lighting did not work. With this in mind, I recommend visitors take a pocket-size flashlight - or torch, as some people on Arachne call it.. It occurs to me that if you have not received contacts in Wales, perhaps the curator of the exhibits at this museum would be of help. You can Google search the internet for the museum, and get leads from there that should lead to a person. I met with two lacemakers in Cardiff who are members of Arachne, and perhaps they have made themselves known to you. I shall respect their privacy here, and hope you've heard from them.
