The techniques used in Crafts should be allowed to develop. New ideas come along, so why not incorporate them if they improve the work as has happened throughout time. I believe that in traditional laces we keep faithful to the style of the lace, but not to the extent of stultifying them. I agree that the most important point is that the finished product is as aesthetically pleasing as possible, closely followed by 'it must be able to be used as inended without showing undue strain, falling to bits, etc. Regarding my own designs the only criticisms I accept, are constructive comments along these lines.
