Hello Wendy Well done on your first post :) (post again, post often!) Good question. It might be that making a leaf with wire is 'easier' than with thread (and they do look nice), but the two substances are quite different to handle. If you want to try the wire to see how the weaving process works, it might help. Too fine of wire can break when you don't want it to. My free advice is to practice with thick pearl cotton to figure out a method that works best for you, then graduate to a finer thread and a small pattern that features leaves for real practice.
