For me, remembering how to work the gimp in Flanders is the easiest -
because I always work the gimp with the bobbin next to it as one.

Indeed. That's important to remember not only for when you want a
twist (or more), but also for when you don't. As in, for example,
Flanders, where the gimp hugs the motif tightly, without any
intervening twists on the pair entering or exiting but where the same
pair does need a twist between the gimp and the ring pair.
For that situation, I use a mnemonic "right enters triumphant and
leaves down-hearted" ie, "lift the right" when entering the cloth
motif area but "lift the left" when leaving it.
