*** Hot off the Press News ***

I am very excited, as well as a bit apprehensive, to announce that the next
Pacific Northwest Lace Conference, to be held in June 2011, will be in
Vancouver, British Columbia on the west coast of mainland Canada. So far there
are only three of us doing the organising but we will do our best :-)

The theme for the conference will be "Beside the Seaside". There will be a
contest during the conference for any piece that could be considered to fit
into the theme with various prizes on offer. Any style of lace will be
acceptable including (but not limited to) bobbin lace, needlelace, tatting,
knitted lace. I would like to encourage everyone to enter as we would love to
put on a great display and provide plenty of choice for the awards. At the
moment the intention is to allow entries from both conference attendees and
non-attendees. There will be a special prize category though for those
submitted by people who also attend the conference. Those not attending will
need to provide appropriate packaging and funds to allow the items to be
returned (or we get to keep them!) The details have yet to be determined (not
least because I hope to convince someone else to take responsibility for this
bit!)

Now for the bit where we need some help. Please contact me for more
information if you are interested in any (or all?!) of the following categories:

1) Teaching a class
2) Being a vendor
3) Helping out in some way with the organising before and/or during the
conference
4) Providing, as an individual or as a group, favours, door prizes, raffle
prizes, etc. for us to hand out - three of us won't be able to produce all
these as well as doing everything else (and trying to work for a living) so any
offers of help would be really appreciated. You will get the appropriate
recognition during the event (or it can be anonymous of course).

We would also like to hear from anyone who has suggestions on possible favours
- it would be lovely to provide something a bit different that would also be
appreciated (and not break the bank for a group that has no funds!)

Watch for more information as we get closer to the conference date - and
probably further requests for help. If you do have any questions, suggestions,
advice or whatever then please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you all in advance, and I hope to see you all here in Vancouver in 2011
:-)

Helen.
