It all depends what you intend to do. I have several (well probably too many) pillows. One 9 block, 3 roller, and the rest cookie pillows (of different diameters). If you are going to do yardage of an edging (I always have at least one going for demos), then the roller is the way to go (in my opinion). There is no break or crack in the pillow to work over, just round and round. No 'moving up'. If I am going to a class or workshop, then the cookie or 9 block is great. The 9 block (especially with extra blocks) allows you to start multiple small projects (or different techniques) without finishing the first ones.
I am sure others will chime in with their opinions. The above is mine 'just off the top of my head'. My caution is: don't let someone else (especially a seller) tell you what you want! I was going to buy a roller pillow but the man who owns the site says that almost everyone uses block pillows instead. Which is best? Roller or block?
