Hi. I noticed that no one, at least on the List, described how to make a hitch, so I thought I'd have a go at it.
When your bobbin is wound, hold it in your fingers/fist with your thumb straight up along side the top of the bobbin and sticking up higher than the bobbin. Continue wrapping the thread, whichever direction it has been wrapped, and make a circle around the thumb. The thread should end up between the thumb and bobbin as you complete a circle around the thumb. Bend the thumb tip down to the top of the bobbin. Slide the circle of thread off the thumb onto the bobbin, and down as far as you want the hitch to be (on the thread, or on the top section of a double top). You now have a single hitch. If you want a firmer hitch, wrap the thread twice around the thumb before sliding it off the thumb and onto the bobbin. You will still have one hitch but two wraps of thread within it, which doesn't slide quite as easily. Once the idea of the thread formation is firmly set in the mind, it's possible to shape the loop and put it around the bobbin without actually wrapping it around the thumb. The motion will become so automatic that you don't have to think about it, you'll just do it. Yesterday I started a new project that I should finish later on today and when I came to the hitches I put one on the neck and the final one in the top that way I found that I only have the one thread on the top and when I go and lengthen then I am not picking at two threads with my pin. I am still working on how to get the bobbins to stay wound with one hitch. So on the next project I will try and get my head around which way my hitches are going in the hope that I can manage with one and then easy pesy. wendy St Dogmaels _________________________________________________________________ Make a mini you on Windows Live Messenger! - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
