My friend Jean has produced a web site for both of us at
http://web.mac.com/jeanmaryeke. There is something about us, Lindfield
Lacemakers and Designers and a free pattern that will be changed periodically.
Jean has only had her computer, her first, for 2 months and I think she has
done well. Can you open it? What do you think? Any suggestions? and can you
download the pattern?

Just to mention that the site was produced using Apple's iWeb software (part
of the iLife suite), which you will already have if you own an iMac or iBook
(don't think it comes with the high-end Macs). This provides some very nice
professional templates, which you can use without knowing HTML. (Of course,
this limits design flexibility.) It's also easier to upload your site if you
subscribe to what was .mac and is now called mobileMe.

One small criticism I would make is that web counters don't do anything for the
appearance of a site. Very 20th century. A better option, if you are prepared
to copy and paste code into your pages, is Google Analytics, which provides you
with very detailed statistics, but the visitor is not aware of this. You need a
free gmail account to get access to that.
