Happy Friday, happy Spiders!!
The list has been quiet... is everyone busy making lace? I'm working
through the grueling finish on the piece I started in Rockford. I can't
even see what I've done because there are so many pins - and where I've
pulled some pins, there are so many threads from bobbins thrown out that
I really can't see what's there... so, either a huge delight or a
tragic disappointment await me, sometime next week. Keep your fingers
crossed!!!
I've been collecting spliced bobbins made by Malcolm Thorpe for two or
three years now (mine come from Lacy Susan). While I was in Rockford, I
discovered that she had a fairly large supply of spiced bobbins which he
had sent her before convention. They have their ID numbers on them, but
the identification of the woods used is not there. By hook or crook, I
have identified all but two of the bobbins I snatched up! (Between my
roommate, Karen, and me, the supply was nearly wiped out.)
So... my question is this... is there anyone on the list who also
collects these spliced bobbins, and who has kept a record of what the
various bobbins are made of? I would love to identify the last of the
UFO's in the stash. The ID numbers are J36 and J45S (or probably
JS45). I suspect that these bobbins would have been received during
2005 or earlier.
