Thanks for the info, Jean.  I haven't been to the site in a while.  For those 
who have been discussing the "holes" in the Le Pompe-era pattern books, there's 
a nice picture of a lovely piece dated 1580.  Maybe this will help clear up 
some questions about how the old laces were constructed.
