This tv program might have been written about by our English members in the past. I was catching up with recordings I made in the last month so I have no idea when this tv program was on, but it was on PBS (public broadcasting in US), probably on Masterpiece Theater or Mystery. Set sometime near the first world war, judging by the costumes, or maybe a little earlier. The main character was a female detective named Sally. In the story a woman who was badly disfigured by a facial birthmark was working as a lacemaker. I did not see her making lace but there was a pillow with bobbins near her room window. It looked like a round Honiton pillow with plain bobbins. She was trying to protect the whereabouts of a male friend from villains. To make her talk, they threw her lace pieces into the fire!! Included was a nice hanky with a wide edging. She later died in a housefire as did the hero. One wealthy, timid young lady was wearing a piece of Beds lace under her peach dress collar. Looked like a nice piece of lace.
DH deleted it from the DVR so I have no idea of the title or when it was shown. I was aghast at what they did to the lace.
