Hi Alison and everyone My Road Atlas of France is upstairs, so I can't check the exact location of Le Monastier, but Le Puy is in the Auvergne region of France - slightly south and west of the centre of France. The Puy region was (and still is) a well-known lacemaking centre, particularly for the Cluny type laces.
