Not very old history but i came across this when researching the Batavia bobbins. it is a record of an immigrant to Australia. Might be of use to some historian somewhere some time!!

Went to Collie and worked as miner. Alfred was Grenadier Guard in 1883, fought in Boer War in 1900. Recalled to Reg, joined AIF, left to fight in WW1 in 1914.
