Not very old history but i came across this when researching the Batavia
bobbins.  it is a record of an immigrant to Australia.
Might be of use to some historian somewhere some time!!

  Alfred & Lydia Lymbery & 2 children arrived in Fremantle 12/02/1914 on the
Demosthenes. Went to Collie and worked as miner. Alfred was Grenadier Guard in
1883, fought in Boer War in 1900. Recalled to Reg, joined AIF, left to fight
in WW1 in 1914. After war returned to coal mining & had 3 more children.
