Thanks, Jeri, for alerting us to this book!!

Ditto.

I see that Amazon has this book in stock, and it is $38.55 - and comes with FREE SHIPPING!

And caveats... :) When I went to check on the book, they said they had one copy left (but more coming soon). When I went to the check out, they said "expected shipping date Dec 26". I guess that last copy was gone in the 10-15 minutes I took to decide; it's a good thing that, while on the Amazon site, I took the time to explore some more and ordered a couple of other books (which will ship Dec 12)... :)

Why I took so long to decide whether to buy it or not? First, although the dates (1540-1660) fit, almost perfectly, with my area of (current) interest, I had hoped that, it being #4 meant that #3 would have covered the period just preceding it (I like to know where things are "coming from" not just where they are). Alas, no luck; the earlier books cover the *later* periods. I also discovered that the Arnold book is supposed to deal with *England only*; useful but not, exactly, in my bailiwick... Which is what prompted me to dig around some more. By the time I found a couple of books dealing wih *Italian* costume of that era and the particular aspects of it that were of interest (alas, nothing specific on *Venice*)... By the time I weighed the merits of getting cheaper (used) +shipping versus Amazon (new) with free shipping...

Still... I ought to have *something* to curl up in bed with, before Christmas :) And the Arnold book can be my New Year's treat.
