Today the New York Times gave an excellent review to the show at the Bard English Embroidery 1580-1700:'Twixt Art and Nature. _http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/19/arts/design/19embr.html?ref=arts_ (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/19/arts/design/19embr.html?ref=arts) The review includes a short slide show of examples from the show. In the show there are many pieces with lace on them, specifically, bobbin lace on hats, gloves and an embroidered jacket, and needle lace on a coif and two samplers, as well as early lace pattern books. The website of the show, also featuring some examples is _http://www.bgc.bard.edu/exhibit/exhibits/Twixt_Art_Nature/index.html_ (http://www.bgc.bard.edu/exhibit/exhibits/Twixt_Art_Nature/index.html) There is also a symposium to be held on Jan. 23. Details are to be found at _http://www.bgc.bard.edu/research/this_week/twixt_art.shtml_ (http://www.bgc.bard.edu/research/this_week/twixt_art.shtml) I am planning to attend this and I think it would be of interest to anyone with a serious interest in historical embroidery and needle arts.
