As Devon (very politely and off-list) reminded me, it's *Antwerp*, not Amsterdam. Sigh... I think I'd better quit while I'm behind :)

Oh, and before anyone reminds me that the lack of mention of bobbin lace in early 15hundreds might be due to the fact that it had been called something else at the time (as it had been in Le Pompe, as late as 1559)... I'm aware of that, and on the lookout for other names that could, possibly be applied to lace...
