Please - include your state name in your publicity for the International Old Lacers Inc. convention in Portland, Oregon (on the west - Pacific - coast of the U.S.) One of the Portlands in America is Portland, Maine. It is the northeast-most state on the Atlantic coast of the U.S. When news reports say only Portland, we Mainers ask "which one?" After all, Portland in Maine is the largest city in "our" state! There are other Portlands - in states of Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas. Maybe some others? A large number of members of Arachne are located in other nations. America is large, and her geography is confusing. Indeed, this American lacemaker actually gets letters from lace friends in other nations asking what our 2-letter state abbreviations translate to, and where are they.
