Betty Ann's nice stories remind me of the time a very big tradesman working near our lace table at a public demo, stopped to pass the time of day, and then said, "well I'd better go, and leave you to work on your knittin' - my mother used to knit too. Only she used a needle and thread." He was so charming. Yes I just waved b/bye (and went back to my knittin' :p )
I can't think of any questions I've been asked that have floored me, though there was an incident at a craft fair where I had my Honiton pillow, and a visitor saw what looked like long spider legs splayed across a round blue object. I explained what I was doing, the white 'body' was not a body but a pricking with the lace in progress on the straw-filled pillow, and the long strands and bobbins were not legs... but she shivered and said yuck, it just looks like a spider to me and I hate spiders (pity). No I didn't tell her about Arachne :S On Fri, Feb 27, 2009 at 7:49 PM, Clive & Betty Rice <[email protected]>wrote: > He was so sweet kind in his bib overalls > that had the edging been nearly finished, I swear I would have put it on > a handkerchief in the next week and sent it to him gratis...
