If you would like a good description of the various terms used by knitters for different kinds of thread, try the Halcyon website: www.halcyonyarn.com Look under Yarn by weight and you will see it described by yards/lb, yards/unit, wpi, and laceweight, etc. Sorry, there aren't too many metric terms there. Wish there were! This is where I go when I am struggling with yarn translations.
