i'm glad you didn't resist the urge to give the link to this marvel !!!!!... i love kimonos and they're the most extraordinary pieces of textile , in my opinion. My most recent treasure is a book published by PIE BOOKS in 2006 : Summer kimonos and the colour of Japan . the kimono collection of Katsumi Yumioka ISBN 4 894444 531 X C0072 ...it is mostly in japanese but the explanations about the kimonos are translated into English and i was fascinated by the degree of art required from the weavers ...

I didn't see the exhibit when it was out this way, but saw the catalogue.  It's 
spectacular.  Definitely worth the visit.  No lace, of course, but gorgeous 
textiles.
