The only history of crochet that I know of is Lis Paludan's "Crochet:
History & Technique," which only covers up to the early 20th century.
However, since the period is so recent, there may will be Arachnes (is
Dominique still on the list?) who remember what was being crocheted at
that time.

Patterns were copied/shared/re-assembled all the time. This doesn't
seem unusual to me.

I'm curious about why you are investigating this area. Are you writing
a book or short story that requires background details for the period?

Best wishes,

Avital
