This is really a lace posting, so I'm forwarding it to there for you as you may get a better answer as more people are on that list.

I only have rusty Honiton skills, which I haven't used for 8 years or so. It is not so much that you have to have knots to start the Honiton, but because you throw out threads and cut them off, you end up with a lot of single bobbins, which you can knot and use again, rather than having to re-wind as pairs. I'll leave it to an expert to fully explain this to you

Can you please expalin in simple terms why I need to put knots in the bobbins when starting off Honiton as with the other types of lace i have learned you
dont need to.
