Hi Robin and everyone If I'm not mistaken, the silk used in Maltese lace is the Tussah silk, from cocoons of silk worms that ate wild mulberry leaves, yielding a shiny beige thread, as opposed to the bright white silk from a diet of cultivated mulberry.
