To add to her problems her female consultant is 'moving on' and she

neurotic for the last ten or so years, and can't seem to understand why such

damaged hands would make life difficult.
This is such a major problem, especially when the doctor is healthy and has
no imagination. When my right foot became subject to a chronic pain syndrome,
and I was in the period of my life when I had to drive my daughter everywhere
for lessons and activities, it made driving dangerous, if not impossible
because I didn't want to hit the brake hard with the right foot. No doctor
volunteered the information until I heard about it from another sufferer, that
there is a very simple, inexpensive and removable (for other family members)
device that you can put in your car that allows you to drive with the left
foot.
It consists of a pedal to the left of the brake pedal. This pedal has a pole
going over to the gas pedal which depresses the actual gas pedal when you
depress the left side pedal. In the US, you do have to be relicensed for left
foot driving, which means having to learn to parallel park again. :-( But
it has been more than worth it. The lace content in this message, is that I
frequently encounter fellow lacers, who have not heard of this from their
doctors, and are unable to attend lace events because they can't drive to them,

or they are driving with two feet, or with their left foot wrapped around their
right foot, both of which are not very satisfactory and in fact, illegal, in
the US. So, people don't want to drive long distances that way. Why doctors
don't see that people have to drive and volunteer this information is a
mystery to me. I would never have heard of it from a doctor and it is
something
that a doctor has to write a prescription for. In fact, when I asked for it,
the doctor knew exactly how to write the prescription. Sorry if somewhat off
topic, but it enrages me every time I see someone's life badly disrupted
unnecessarily, especially when they can't drive to lace events.
