Hello All! After moving to Erie, PA from North Canton, OH in Dec 2007, I was
suffering from cultural withdrawal. A friendly gal in Pittsburgh (Thank You
Amy) suggested that I join the list, perchance to find another lacemaker closer
than Grove City, PA or Cortland, OH with whom to commune. That was June 2008 &
I still haven't found anyone here but I've certainly been the beneficiary of
help & advice on Arachne. (What can you say when the first day of hunting
season is considered a holiday & the local specialite de la maison is a
hotdog!) I've also shared some of my knowledge even though it fits in a
thimble. One of the first posts that I read involved a question about
s'gravenmoer, a technique that I had actually tried & could offer a solution.
I still get out my "flow chart" to work the motifs & my friend (the author) & I
get a good laugh out of the blank sector in my personal hard drive regarding
this technique!! But as she says, once the piece is finished, the lace
police will not know that I used the book. <G> So I'm a newbie to BL &
Arachne, what fun! To Mark--I loved the motifs you have tatted & am awed by
your creativity. I have several tatting friends but haven't seen anything like
you have posted. As to the variety of motifs for the wedding dress, there is
precedent for this. I believe Queen Elizabeth wore a gown with a number of
floral motifs representing the UK--ask Jeri about the exact details. There is
a website with photos of the dress posted & it is a wonder. So--follow your
fantasy--I'm sure the dress will be a dream! Susan, Erie, PA or as I've
mentioned before E-e-e-rie, PA
