Or you can use the tiny hair grips that I bought in Claires. They do come in a variety of sizes and are highly coloured as well. They are mainly for children, but they grip around the neck of the bobbin and hold the thread in place. If I could find mine in my hobby room, I would give you the correct name, but that are not where they should be. Yes I know I should tidy the room but if I do this then I cant do lace!!! I will carry on looking and hopefully give the information over the weekend.

I also use drinking straws for the finer threads.

And Alex, please dont pass your comments to Sue D, it might discredit me!!!

When I have trouble with the half hitches 'leaping' off the bobbin, I
cut lengths of drinking straws and slit  them lengthwise.  Then I
slip a straw over the thread and half hitch on each bobbin.
