Thanks for the info, Jean. As I have a pillow whose polystyrene roller is wearing out in places (after only 20" of lace, but it's fine bucks point with hordes of pins per square inch), I've been down to Aldi and got one.
They are only 2-and -a -half inches diameter, so it's going to take a lot of wrapping (I think I shall nick the ancient australian wool blanket with the hole in the middle from the spare bed!), but it will make a good centre for a roller pillow. I haven't cheked yet whether the foam is self-healing (unlikely, at that price) but as it is too narrow to use without padding that doesn't really matter.
