"Anyway, I have decided to try a piece from Yvonne Scheele-Kerkhof's beautiful Floral Bedfordshire book, and hope I don't upset the purists by making Beds in colored silk. Is it always made in cotton?
Janice" I made a couple of Springett's Beds handkie edges in silk, and mounted them on some cream Bridal silk - and we all thought them lovely. However, both christine Springett andf Barbara Underwood saw them and went "Yuk"!!!!!!!! Beds lace, apparently, is supposed to be crisp and firm and lay straight when laid over the hand, - not soft and 'flowing' like my silk lace!!!!!!!!! Still, I still love my lace, - and so do most people who see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)) I think one of them is on my Arachne community webshots. - Yes "Beds Handkie 2" (Beds handkie 1 is not shown!) So go ahead, Janice, and just enjoy making the silk lace, - and "blow" others who think it is "politically incorrect"!!!!!!!!!!! (I am trying hard to be polite!!!) Regards from Liz in Melbourne, Oz.
