My interest in bobbin lace stemmed from a visit to my Aunt in the north of England in 1989. She made me a bucks bookmark, gave me 3 pairs of bobbins and the basic instructions for cloth stitch and half stitch. Then told me I'd become addicted. Yeah, right!!!!! We had twins bordering on teenagers and I had my hands full. Of course the rest is history. When the SA Branch of the Australian Lace Guild won the Group Prize for the Myth and Mystery competition run by the English Lace Guild I was thrilled to be a part of the group and also receive the award donated by non other than my Aunt's lace group, Northumbria Lacemakers.

Sadly my Aunt has passed away but I still have wonderful memories of her lace collection. But, coincidence or what.................. I notice in the latest edition of "Lace" the pattern by Kate Riley is the bookmark my Aunt made for me in 1989. The copyright mark on Kate's pattern in 1986.
Cheers,
Shirley T. in Adelaide, South Australia - still addicted :-)
