Sad to hear of his passing. Another favorite is probably the most
important book on tablet/card weaving, his 'The Technique of Tablet
Weaving". I became re-introduced to tablet weaving a few years ago by
Nancy Spies who wrote "Ecclesiastical Pomp and Aristocratic
Circumstance" (isn't that a great title?? <g>) which is about
tablet-woven brocaded silk bands. The connection to lace (which I used
to justify the diversion back into tablet weaving <g>) is that this
type of medieval passamenterie preceded lace as costume adornment for
the clergy and the aristocracy, according to Nancy. The bands as shown
in the book are very nice, but absolutely stunning in real life and I
couldn't resist wanting to make them.
