If anyone will be sending lace for The Lace Guild's competition next
year (to be in for June), it may be worth noting that our postal charges
normally go up in April.

When I send lace abroad for Exhibitions I always use an International Courier
company which is very expensive (or was) compared to Royal Mail but does
guarantee that my lace arrives the next day, if not, the day after. I used to
Fax the destination address to advise them that my lace had left UK that day
and should be with them the following day and would they please notify me upon
receipt. Nowadays of course, we can email to this effect. There is then the
question of insurance! I would insure my little Point de Gaze 'Parasol for
Iris' for a considerable sum of money, taking into account that it took me six
years to make, but even that sum of money would not compensate me for it's
loss, should it go astray as I would NEVER make another! How would this
affect the valuation that one might put on a piece of lace sent by Royal Mail
I wonder?
