Dear Arachnids You have already had the reply that 'setting in' is the process of starting to make a new piece of lace. I believe it can also be referred to as 'setting up' but that term can also mean the process of moving the lace up the pillow to a new position by bundling the bobbins in a cloth, removing all the pins, relocating the pricking and replacing sufficient pins before continuing.
