I am trying to learn needle lace without a teacher, and I thought I would buy myself a Christmas present.
I did a search on ABE Books for Nenia Lovesey, and found The Technique of Needle Point Lace, Creative Design in Needle Point Lace, and Introduction to Needle Point Lace, all very reasonable. I also searched the list archives, but got very little info on those books. I have the beginner's basics well in hand, I think. I can lay the trace on a pattern, couch it down and make some fillings. I have the Dillmont Encyclopedia with lots of stitches, but I would like a book with more advanced projects and techniques. I don't know how to do picots, have not yet tried couronnes or braids, and I'm sure there's more I'm not aware of. I have Catherine Barley's book, Needlelace, Designs and Techniques, but it's more than a few steps ahead of me. Would one of Lovesey's books give me something new to work on? I'm not a total beginner, but not really intermediate, either. I'm open to any suggestions - maybe there's an author I haven't considered. Thanks! Lenore in Michigan here's a link to my blog where you can see my latest needle lace project, and give you and idea of where I'm at. http://tatt3r-lace.blogspot.com - To unsubscribe send email to [email protected] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [email protected].
