This is my translation of the French.... Dear Fans of lace,
For some months, the Center of the Lace of Bruges (Kantcentrum) has been managed by a new Office of direction. This new direction was able to conclude an agreement with the town council of the city of Bruges and the owners of the local ones (the family Of Limburg Stirum). Some months ago again, that announced itself very poorly for the ASBL. But a group of brugeois decided that the Kantcentrum did not have to disappear. They quickly were rejoined by a wide group of support. The professors, the trainees, the personnel (where a reorganization had to take place, the posts set up are passed of 4 to 2) rejoice at a new wind in stern. (New people at the helm??) The new Office of direction (with the new delegated director and businessman Wim Decraemer, the president and journalist to the VRT, the Flemish radio/television, Nico Blontrock and member of the Office, the bookseller brugeois Koen Of Meester) restarted links that rediscovered their place, relations lost by the passed and that renewed themselves. The magazine KANT soon will take advantage of a new make-up. The summer courses will be again organized as well as a new formation of three years for the lace professors. On the other hand, the occupation of the historic buildings of the 15th century arrives to maturity date. Nevertheless, the owner invested a half million Euro in the restoration and the enlargement of the former school of lace, a little further in the Balstraat. A new Museum of lace (with the laces of the municipal collection) will open there also. The relations with our "concucollègues", otherwise says the other lace merchants brugeois, also will be reestablished. Soon, projects will be taken in collaboration with these. The center of the Tourism of Bruges strongly will promote all what concerns the lace as cultural events, in Belgium as abroad. The Kantcentrum relives. It abounds with activities, it envisions many projects, the future offers us a quantity of timeliness.
