From a quick scan of the bookshelves, it is referred to in Pat
Earnshaw's "The Identification of Lace", and also Alex Stillwell's
"Illustrated Dictionary of Lacemaking" (published by Cassell) - in Pat
Earnshaw's book the illustration has been rotated through 90deg,
unfortunately!
Alex, was Pat's book your reference point or did you find the term
elsewhere?
