"...to store film-edged prickings,,,stick them to more adhesive film..."

It seems to me, that many prickings would fit into plastic sleeve protectors
that hold 8 1/2 x 11" sheets of paper to fit in 3 ring binders.  Many
prickings come with foldswhich one may need to repeat with your working copy,
but is that worse than having something large getting dog eared from sticking
out somewhere and exposed to wear and tear?  It could make for a nice filing
system in a 3 ring binder (or filing folder for that matter).  I do it with
other patterns and employ tabbed dividers to categorize in 3 ring binders.

In a rush, I purchased welding rods (sans flux) for dressing/blocking knitted
lace.  Fearing tarnish (as I often knit in white and dye later if I cannot
find a color I like or cannot decide, plus white can always be cleaned well!),
found that it hasn't been a problem.  (Actually Addi lace needles have been
more so, but that is another brass story).

My point is, that people are sometimes quite acidic (their personal
chemistry/diet), and can affect discoloration as much or more than environment
(not to discount the acidity of what you have washed your pillow cover in,
plus all the other components).  People's stories with jewelry, from costume,
to carat gold, would be the analogy here; some can wear it and others cannot,
as it discolors or irritates.)
