Dear Spiders -
You will remember that the Kantcentrum was nearly ruined last year but
now the former Director is out, along with several members of his
family. There is a new staff and a new director, and they are getting
things going again. In the issue of Kant magazine which was recently
published, I'm told they forgot to list the summer courses. Anne-Marie
Verbeke-Billiet will be teaching the Binche I course this year. I have
been asked to post this information on Arachne as soon as they send it
to me.
Our friends who support the Kantcentrum have told me that the Dumon
family has begun setting up their websites. I share them with you so
that you will know that these are the same people who nearly ruined the
Kantcentrum. The website of Anne Dumon is www.lacejoy.com. Here there
are many pictures of beautiful lace, but this is another example of
using the work of others without permission and without identifying the
lacemakers. There are many pictures which M. Dumon took while wandering
around the recent Congress in Germany. There are numerous events posted
where he took many pictures. And from this, they seem to be implying
that Anne Dumon was involved with the lace. She advertises that she is
an experienced lacemaker and teacher. I found it interesting that there
were no pictures on her website showing us lace that she had designed,
or lace that she had made... only the work of others.
The second website is www.bruggekantstad.com which is M. Dumon's
webshop, but this is under Construction and the notice says it will be
available in May.
