Dear all,
Abigail Benson, Public Affairs Assistant at the Smithsonian Institution
has sent me a huge file, 4.46 MB of the ENTIRE shawl. It seems clear even to
my intellect that most of the edging is knit, but I'm not sure about the rest.
There are some holes in the center part which might shed some light on the
construction. Ms. Benson wishes that the Smithsonian be credited should I wish
to reproduce the image, and certainly that must be done.
My real question is how to get this file out there? I have no website,
yet it seems to me that all who are interested should be given the opportunity
to view this wonderful artifact. I can do lots with computers, but I have
never posted anything but an email on the www. You will note that I have
copied Ms. Benson with this email, and I will do nothing against her wishes in
this matter. Generosity should be responded to in kind.
I check my suspect email regularly, so if you choose to respond privately,
that's fine.
Lyn, in Pennsylvania, where the weather is cool and windy.
