This is a handpainted perle cotton, and comes in different weights. I have a bunch of it for hardanger, and it looks to be about size 8 (tho' could be 12). My local thread shop sells it, and unless they more recently changed the composition to tencel, it has always in the past been cotton. (I could look up the exact specs, but am being lazy, as ill). You can talk to the owner Debbie (Stitchville USA), who is very knowledgeable about things, and the store has been in the family for decades (though she doesn't know bobbin lace, except enough to suggest threads she has, or can order, fwiw).
