When I return to Australia after a trip home with lots of lovely bobbins I've bought, I have to declare them and have them inspected to make sure they're free of wood worm, termites or any other nasties. I've never bothered taking my lace equipment overseas, so can only assume that the Australian Customs would be equally suspicious of any sort of bobbin in use on a pillow. The forms are quite explicit - you *must* declare any wood or plant items you might be carrying in your luggage.

Presumably it applies to bone as well - or perhaps not. Does that mean you can't take wooden lace bobbins and have to have plastic ones if you take your lace equipment there when visiting?
