For 15 years I haven't bothered to knit anything at all and more years than that since I knitted anything vaguely lacy but recently found some irrisistable colours on sale which I just had to buy, price excellent too:-) I have just finished knitting a cardigan with no lace but a tiny bit of pattern (I could only find a couple of very basic patterns after all this time.) On thursday I stepped out of my door with bags in my hand and ended up doing an elegant sideways roll, badly spraining my right foot and breaking a bone in my left. So my new not very elegant leg and footwear is a tubigrip bandage on one leg, a hard half cast thing wrapped with bandages on the other, a pair of socks borrowed from DH and one of his slippers which is the only thing I can get on at present. But, my ears went up reading this Clay, what are toe-up socks? I think when the cast is changed I wont be able to use his socks any longer and will need something to keep my little toes warm. Thursday I have to have a full cast put onto the broken foot but like all things we have no idea how long before I will be able to take all my weight onto the other one, certainly not yet. I think I need L plates for these crutches which I am not good at driving, <g>.

I am now knitting a really nice twisted rib waistcoat in rich purple, so its keeping me occupied a bit, and I cant get close enough to my lace pillow to work at present but I am also hoping to use some of the time getting better at the needle tatting. DH is a star, and serving me home made strawberry ice cream, <VB Grin> but not worth breaking anything just for that which I would have got anyway:-) Mind you when I am mended he needs an op on his knee, so then is my turn to take over being chief cook and bottle washer.

I did do some knitting today! I'm working on the second of a pair of toe-up socks, and they're delightful!
