Hello Spiders...
A few days ago, there was some interest in a tube-knitting machine on
eBay, and the name, "Crazy Daisy Winder" came up. The "Crazy Daisy" is
not the same as the tube knitter, but was perhaps manufactured by the
same company. I did not pay enough attention to the thread to get the
details.
But today, a friend who is downsizing her "stash" offered me a booklet
that she was going to throw in the trash. It was copyrighted 1948 by
the Ralph C. Springer Co., Culver City, CA, and the title is "Designs
for the Crazy Daisy Winder". The subtitle is, " 'Do It Yourself'
Crochet time cut in half". The original price was "35 cents, 50 cents
in Canada". It is full of pictures and instructions that even *I* can
understand, having never used a Crazy Daisy Winder. There are loads of
patterns... for a snappy "Daisy Beret", a handbag, a vest, a bed
jacket, numerous doilies and tablecloths, a bedspread, items for the
children, and I think my personal favorite (!) is the pom-pom decorated
Daisy bedroom slippers.
If you find that you simply must join the rush to be the first in your
town to resurrect the art of Crazy Daisy Winding, then by all means
enter this raffle!! The winder is *not* included (sorry, I didn't get
that with the booklet). And if you're just curious, then you're also
welcome to add your name to the hat. I'll have DH draw the winner on
July 21 (a week from today). I'll send this anywhere, so don't be bashful.
