A quick search of the laws on the books in Massachusetts shows no law containing the work "lace" (which in and of itself is interesting.) A quick search of the same for Virginia returns 3 hits: one about boxing rules (it's not OK to hit someone with the lace side of the glove); one about water discharge rules from industrial plants and one about registration and renewal of [trade] marks.
