I remember going on the Porthmadog train about 35 years ago and wish that I
could take partin your lace-in on National Lacemaking Day. I hope you all
have a great time and wow all the tourists.
Best wishes from

Subject: [lace] National Lacemaking Day - Lace on the Train
A while back we were talking about making lace at railway stations, and
I mentioned the idea of "Making Lace on the Train" (or in the museum)
for National Lacemaking Day and asked if anyone within reasonable
travelling distance of Porthmadog, North Wales, would be interested.
The day is going ahead, even if there are only a few of us, on Saturday
11th September at the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway, Tremadog Road,
Porthmadog (opposite the main Porthmadog Railway Station - don't get
confused with the longer Welsh Highland Railway at Caernarfon!), and
families/friends will be welcome to come along too. It will be a normal
steam service, and timetable/fare details are at http://www.whr.co.uk -
there will be no additional charge but I'm hoping to design at least one
pattern to try and raise some funds for the continuing overhaul of
Russell, one of the original WHR locomotives from 1906. First train is
at 10.30am, last at 4pm.
Can anyone interested in joining us let me know off the list, and if you
have any friends who may be interested can you pass the word on for me?
