Hello Again! Thank you Jean for posting the link to the vintage fan handles on Ruby Lane. Those are exactly what came to my mind when I saw the handles! By the 1950's, simple hand painted silk ones were still available in Oriental shops but were otherwise few & far between. I haven't seen any recently, but then I'm living in a cultural wasteland at this point. Thanks also for posting the link to Tamara's fleur-de-lis beauty! I can't believe she carved her own handle/support. Now that's where determination meets craftswomanship! Actually, I was channeling Jacquie regarding the technique: bottom to top, attaching pairs (larks head knot) along the way. The group in Cortland, OH has done a number of items using an armature (copper) of one sort or another, including ones shaped like goddesses! Thanks also to Louise for forwarding the latest info from Vikki. Methinks that more than one lacemaker has contacted her about the product & that she has refined her policy in th e space of a little more than 24hrs over a weekend! So--when they arrive next week I will report on material, quality & value. Always happy to be the guinea pig! Sincerely, Susan, Erie, PA
