I've been in touch with the editor of the BBC Countryfile magazine. Apparently the 'gentleman' who wrote the article on Leek(Staffordshire) made a mistake and should have said silk. This, of course, is why we were so puzzled and couldn't find anything in the literature . Sheila, in Sawbo'. Now feeling warmer since the boiler has been repaired and I've got heating again. Next time I'll sew myself into red flannel with goose grease all over me ready for the winter!!!!!
