I have just mounted my black Bucks Point fan, and was told by a friend who used to be a lace tutor to make 2 strips of halfstitch lace the same size as the guard where the lace is to be attached, you then glue that to the guards ( I used ordinary craft adhesive) and then just stitch the lace to the strips then you don't have to put any glue on your actual lace. The sticks have three small holes drilled, top, middle and bottom and are stitched to the lace. It works really well and I am very pleased with the outcome, I have posted on Arachne webshots if you would like to take a look.
