As far as I can see in the picture of the shawl, once she has finished the rose ground (don't forget to cross the last pairs to "close" the little square that forms the rose ground) she has to make a narrow trail of half stitch.This narrow trail borders the rose ground area, and the tricky part is the "corner". As this narrow trail is worked with only 3 pairs (one being the weaver), you must change the direction of the weaver in the angle, working two times in the center, to make both trails look the same.
The text in the book doesn't help much: it says that the trail is made in half stitch, and that the ending of the shawl is made with a braid. Hope this helps...
